Mariam received a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2021 before starting a Fulbright Fellowship where she conducted a field study to develop and verify methods to quantify antimicrobial resistant pathogens in surface waters environments in urban India.
Mariam’s international experience includes serving as a project manager for community drinking water projects in Kenya and as a Peace Corps volunteer working on community health projects in West Africa.
Mariam’s interests lie in infectious disease, environmental surveillance, and global health.
